After getting waxed 7-1 in game 1 vs Colorado, people were counting Vegas out and basically said the series was over. Vegas wasn’t good enough to compete with the powerhouse that Colorado was. Nathan Mackinnon’s speed was too much to handle on top of the great goaltending they were getting from Philipp Grubauer. The story remained intact after game 2 which Colorado won 3-2 in overtime. However, in game 3 the script was flipped and the rest is history. The Knights did the unimaginable and went on to win 4 straight games outscoring Colorado 17-8 in the process. What ended up being the biggest turning point in the series was game 5. Marc-Andre Fleury gave up an awful game with 0.8 seconds left in the first period and Vegas found themselves down 2-0 after the 2nd period. This didn’t last long as Vegas scored twice within the first 5 minutes of the 3rd period to tie things at 2. Game 5 ended up needing overtime and it didn’t last long as Vegas’ Marc Stone scored just 50 seconds into OT to take the wind out of Ball Arena. Vegas ended up coming back home for game 6 and ultimately took care of business after being tied 3-3 in a back and forth game. The Knights will take on the Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Semi finals which will probably have a little bit of a feeling out process since these two teams haven’t played each other all year till this point. Game 1 will be Monday, June 14th at 9PM eastern on NBCSN. Carey Price of the Canadiens vs Marc-Andre Fleury of the Knights. This could be one of the best goaltending matchups we’ve ever seen!
