Pitcher Chris Sale is set to make his first start in two years when he takes the mound for Boston tonight

The Boston Red Sox have been slumping as of late, so they will be relieved to have pitcher Chris Sale back in the starting lineup. Sale has pitched in many rehab outings since his Tommy John surgery back in March of 2020, but it may take him a little while to return to his ace form. Red Sox players are extremely excited to have Sale back…Xander Bogaerts came out and said, “Help is on its way” after Boston got thumped by the Rays in the midst of a 2-10 slide.

Boston’s main weakness is their pitching. They have slid to 15th in the MLB in team ERA after a pretty strong start to the regular season. Even if Sale has some rust to shake off, the Red Sox will be happy to see Sale back on the mound especially since they are in a current free fall (3-10 in their last 13 since the trade deadline). Another key player that’ll be back soon is trade deadline pickup Kyle Schwarber who is reportedly “very” close to returning to full health. Boston picked him up from the Nationals at the trade deadline knowing that he would have to take some time to get healthy. With some of their key players returning, maybe Boston still has time to make a run to get back to the top of the American League.
