Kevin Kisner had been in 5 playoffs before playing in the six-man playoff in the Wyndham Championship, and his record was a brutal 0-5 in playoffs. Sunday, he was able to break through and win his first playoff by beating 5 players in sudden death. Kisner was solid all week, but had a really impressive Sunday round. He birdied 2 of his last 3 holes in regulation to get to -15 and join the big crowd at the top of the leaderboard. The other 5 players at -15 were Adam Scott, Si Woo Kim, Kevin Na, Robert Sloan, and Branden Grace. Russell Henley held a 3 stroke lead heading into the final round, but he struggled mightily on Sunday by missing two putts within 4 feet on the back nine to finish tied for 7th.
During the first playoff hole, Kisner looked dead in the water. Adam Scott had put one within 5 feet for birdie and Kiz had to get up and down just to save his par. Kisner ended up hitting a great wedge shot to tap-in distance and somehow Adam Scott missed his 4-footer for the win, so everybody went back to the tee for the second playoff hole. Kisner hit the best tee ball on the second playoff hole and had 161 yards into the green from the fairway. He was the last to hit up to the green and he hit an absolute beauty. Everything about it was perfect…especially the club twirl!
