The Cleveland Browns plan to release the 3-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. today. The Browns are trying to restructure his contract before he is put on waivers. Earlier this week, Beckham was excused from practice. OBJ’s father posted a video earlier in the week showing a bunch of game film where his son is open, but QB Baker Mayfield fails to get him the ball. Since the video came out, OBJ and the Browns have had little to no contact.
After a rather tough start to the season, the Browns frustrations are starting to boil over a bit. Losing OBJ seems like a big deal, but what has he really produced this year? He has just 17 receptions for 232 yards in 6 games. Not nearly the production we are used to seeing from the star receiver. Regardless, it was interesting to have a player’s father jump in the drama of the Browns. OBJ seems a little old to have his dad whining about targets on a video. Odell has always been about stats…not wins. He’s never won a playoff game that he’s started in. I’m staying as far away as I can from this guy once he’s released. I need W’s…not 100-yard games and daddy’s videos.
