Steelers T.J. Watt is having an unbelievable 2021 season. Just 12 games into the season he already has 16 sacks, and it’s worth noting he’s missed 2 and a half games due to injury. Cleveland’s Myles Garrett is second in sacks currently with 14. Watt is coming off of possibly his best game as a Steeler, where he accounted for 3.5 sacks against Baltimore’s elusive Lamar Jackson. Watt won AFC Defensive Player of the Week and looks like he can’t be stopped right now. Here’s a remarkable stat….
The current all-time sack leader for a single season is Michael Strahan who had 22.5 sacks back in 2001…but only in a 16-game season. The regular season is now 17 games, so if Watt breaks the record, it may have an asterisk next to it. I think it’s safe to say that the 4-year $112 million dollar contract the Steelers gave to Watt was well worth it.
